Blog Hopping Time!

Book Blogger HopEvery week Jen over at Crazy for Books does such an amazing job of coordinating the Book Blog Hop. I just wanted to give a little shout out to her. She certainly doesn't have to do this every week but I'm grateful that when I choose to participate I know exactly where to go to find the Hop.

Anyway, I'm not going to go into great details about how to hop because if you click on her link it will take you right to the original post and most of you stopping by are probably from the hop anyway, so you all know what it is and how it works.

This week's question is....
What’s the ONE GENRE that you wish you could get into, but just can’t?

I tend to gravitate towards romance, YA and mysteries but I will read horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and various non-fiction stuff too. I have found that within each genre I can find a book or two that I love. A common theme I have found that I stay away from though is religion. I really don't like my fiction book to contain blatant religious opinion. Its not that I don't have faith, I just don't want to feel preached to while reading.

I also tend to avoid the overly religious books. Since last week's pie chart about where I get my books was so popular, I thought I'd share what types of books I do read. Please stop by to see which genres I don't typically read.

Thank you both for coming over and leaving a comment! Pussreboots....Love your pie chart. I find it funny that I read mostly romance and it's one of the top two you really wont read but your HUSBAND does LOL. Does he blog?

Kyanara I totally understand not liking fantasy books where there are literally tons of characters popping up all over. It's hard to keep those straight. I haven't read much fantasy but prefer paranormal romances or Urban Fantasies the most.

I'm with you on overly religious books, though I do enjoy some faith based books, like Amish fiction!

I am finding more religious imagery in some of the paranormal and fantasy books than I originally expected. Have you noticed that at all?

I tend to shy away from religious books, too, since they tend to be way too preachy. I do like reading them once in a while, though, just for a nice, clean, uplifting change.

Glad to have found you via the Hop!

Thank you ladies for hopping by I loved checked out your blog Andrea...loved the layout, reminded me of Alice in Wonderland.

Susan so funny but I've been following you for quite a while now. Love your blog.

Shanan I've noticed that with paranormals they are getting into more religious stuff too. With all the "Angel" books going on. Like Annette McCleave's Soul Gatherers series and a lot of YA books (like Halo by Alexandra Adornetto and Fallen series by Lauren Kate). Funny but I don't mind these as much as books that periodically have a "praise jesus" in the story. Am I weird? LOL

I think lately I'm sort of becoming the same way, a bit more loose with what I'll read and ready or eager to try something at least once if it's out of my comfort zone, but I just cannot give over to straight romances - ya know, where that's all the plot or main theme of the book is. Ugh, that bothers me something furious, I need something else going on, like some hot action or a devastation of some kind and I'm not just talking about the heart imploding or some hot and heavy swooning/petting scene either. lol.

Happy Friday Hops, have a grrreat weekend!

YES, religion is becoming a lot more prominent in all types of genre, eps. romance. I don't mind some myth or history thrown into my stories, but I'm finding too many of my books are having a lot more Angels themes. . .not something I enjoy too much either! ;)

Cheers, have a great weekend
